What equipment do I need? Yoga is something you can do without any equipment or props. But you might want to consider a number of things. A mat designed specifically for yoga not only gives you much-needed grip, but can also act as a cushion against hard or cold floors. These are usually supplied by your yoga teacher, but you might want to take in to consideration the hygiene benefits of owning you own mat. Originally the ancient yogis never used such equipment, but when yoga was first to westerners it was clear that we might benefit from a few extras. Yoga belts are very popular as the can give you length in the arms when needed, or they can be used in imaginative ways in certain positions. Yoga blocks are often used to aid and support particular parts of the body to help with the correct alignment of a position. All of these pieces of equipment can be very useful when practicing, but it is my belief that we must be careful not to become too reliant on any of them.
Holy Cow what a bag! As a yoga company it would not be very cool if we started to make bags out of leather. After all in India the cow is considered a manifestation of the divine, with every part of it being sacred. Many of the main Hindu deities are associated with cows, the best known being the Lord Krishna who as a young man was a cow herder. But because we love bags we wanted to offer the quality and style of leather, so we searched hi and low to find the best faux leather. We also felt this allowed us to make a statement regarding non-violence (ahimsa) which is key to yoga and is the first undertaking required in the Classical Yoga tradition.
